Virgin Mobile

Virgin Mobile, a mobile phone network service supplier originating from the United Kingdom operating in Australia, Canada, India, Poland, USA and France to name a few, is a subsidiary of Virgin Media headed and founded by no other than Sir Richard Branson.  Started by the Virgin Group of companies, in 1999.

Virgin Mobile  'Evolution'

This company is a pioneer as it was the worlds first Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), which means Virgin Mobile did not build and does and maintain its own network infrastructure, but instead has agreements to use EE’s existing network (at the time One2One then become T Mobile who were bought by EE). And then re-selling it as a Virgin Mobile branded service, this way its much cheaper to operate than if it had its own network infrastructure.

Mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) sell voice and data services by leasing airtime bandwidth capacity from vendors that own a wireless infrastructure, such as O2, EE and Vodafone.

With a really successful Christmas the Company announced its first annual profit in 2003.

Virgin Mobile Pay As You Go

From giving users more choice and honest mobile option, and good- value, this company has won well over 4 million customers since it started, marking Virgin Mobile as one of the quickest-growing mobile phone establishments in history, sure they had a very good brand name to start with, but still regardless.

Virgin provide contract mobile packages, pay as you go as well as mobile phones which it sells directly,

Due to the merger of T-Mobile and Orange to form EE in 2010, which allowed many Virgin Mobile customers to be able to use phones that were before locked to either of these companies, but as Virgin had different roaming agreements with other networks, in the end virgin ended up being in the right place at the right time even regardless of the decommissioning of T Mobile masts resulting  in customers reporting losing signal suffice to say that in these areas, Orange already had coverage and in turn further enlarged their coverage when they merged their signalling operated by  EE.
